1. About these terms
These terms explain the rules for using NEERMAI (the website and the NEERMAI app). NEERMAI is run by NEERMAI ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using NEERMAI you agree to these terms, our Community Guidelines and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use NEERMAI.
2. Who can join
You must be at least 13 years old to join. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to you joining, and some features (such as Mature writing) are not available to you. You must give true information when you join and keep it up to date.
3. Your account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email or mobile. Keep access to your email and phone safe and never share your code. You are responsible for everything done with your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
4. Your writing and your responsibility
NEERMAI is a platform where members publish their own writing. Every story, poem, article, comment and message is written by the member who posted it, and that member alone is responsible for it. The views, opinions, facts and claims in any writing belong to its author. They are not the views of NEERMAI, NEERMAI, our team or our partners, and publishing them is not an endorsement.
NEERMAI does not check every piece of writing for accuracy or lawfulness and does not claim ownership of it. Writers keep their own copyright. Our team may review, correct the category or notes of, hide or remove any writing at any time, but doing so does not mean we take responsibility for it.
If you believe any writing is unlawful, untrue about a real person, copied from someone else, or harmful, please tell us using "Report" on the page or our contact page. We look at every report and act quickly where the law requires.
When you post anything on NEERMAI, you confirm that:
- it is your own original work, or you have the right to publish it;
- it does not copy anyone else's work without permission;
- it does not break any law, including laws on defamation, privacy, copyright, harassment, hate speech and the protection of children;
- it does not make false or damaging claims about a real person or organisation;
- it follows our Community Guidelines.
You agree to be responsible for any claim, loss or cost that arises because something you posted broke these terms or the law, and to cover our reasonable costs in dealing with such a claim, to the extent the law allows.
5. Permission to show your writing
You keep the copyright in your writing. By posting it, you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to store, show, share and format it on NEERMAI and in our app, emails, share cards and social media posts about NEERMAI, always with your name as the author. This permission ends when you delete the writing or your account, except for copies already shared by others or kept in backups for a short time.
6. Reviewing and removing writing
We may review writing before or after it is published, ask you to change it, correct its category, language or content notes, mark it as Mature (18+), or decline, hide or remove it. We may also limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. We will usually tell you why, unless the law or safety reasons stop us.
7. Reporting a concern
Anyone can report writing, comments or members they believe are unlawful or harmful, using "Report" or our contact page. If you believe writing on NEERMAI is defamatory of you, please tell us your name, the page address, the words you complain about, why they are untrue or harmful, and how to reach you. We will deal with it fairly and as quickly as the law requires, which may include contacting the writer.
8. Mature writing
Some writing is marked Mature (18+). Only signed-in members aged 18 or over can open it. Sexually explicit writing is not allowed anywhere on NEERMAI.
9. Messages, comments and chat
Be kind and respectful. Do not use comments or chat to harass, threaten, sell or spam. You can block any member. We may read reported messages to keep members safe.
10. Things outside our control
We work hard to keep NEERMAI running, safe and secure, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Links to other websites, radio stations and videos are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.
11. Our liability
NEERMAI is provided free of charge. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for writing or other content posted by members, or for any loss that comes from relying on it. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you use NEERMAI as a consumer, these terms do not take away your legal rights.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we make an important change, we will show the new version when you next visit and ask you to accept it. The version number and date are shown at the top of this page.
13. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Most of our members live in Sri Lanka; if you live in Sri Lanka or any other country, you also keep any protections your local law gives you that cannot be removed by agreement, and you must follow the laws of the country you post from.
