Nowadays AI revolution is pretty debatable. While some have nothing but amazing things to say on the AI revolution, there are many AI experts who have openly spoken out about the kind of negative effect AI. Although Today the AI technology is being used to perform tasks that range from trivial to monumental.
There are many advantages of AI- from speeding up conventional tasks to enhancing the inner workings of bigger industries. The analytical and predictive power of AI has proven to be a valuable asset for many industries. Whether it is predicting the weather or stock market, the accuracy of AI technology’s predictive power is affecting many industries in a positive manner. Not only data analysis and making predictions based on that, but AI is also being used for more dangerous tasks such as space explorations, sea exploration, diagnostic and monitoring procedures in the medical industry and many more. AI do not only span across different industries but also affects the individual lives of everyone.
There are bound to be negative effects of AI as well. Legendary physicist Stephen Hawking shared this ominous warning: “Success in creating effective AI could be the biggest event in the history of our civilization. Or the worst. So we cannot know if we will be infinitely helped by AI or ignored by it and sidelined, or conceivably destroyed by it.”
Robots designed on the basis of AI technology, have the ability to perform simple and repetitive tasks all by themselves. Due to this reason AI machines have replaced several humans at workplace. Due to this reason, many people have lost their jobs as well. People with malicious intent can use AI to design autonomous weapons that are automated to destroy an area. This can lead to mass casualties. This can happen when they do not properly align a super-intelligent AI with the business goals.
We are to finally answer the question of whether human beings are to be replaced by AI systems AI will replace human beings in some jobs and industries and that much is inevitable. Many jobs that require manual labor will be automated in the future.
The rapid expansion of AI technology needs constant regulation and observation before the negative effects of it become too much. With proper laws guarding the users, AI takeover will only be limited to the entertaining plots of dystopian movies and fictional worlds.
